You can add the OpenEdge Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) Adapter to an existing OpenEdge installation either interactively or silently.

To add an OpenEdge ESB Adapter to an existing OpenEdge installation, perform the following steps:

  1. Download the OpenEdge ESB Adapter from the Progress Download Center and launch its installation program.
The Warning dialog box appears when the installation process detects an existing OpenEdge installation. It provides the location of the current OpenEdge installation and informs you that you can only add additional products in the same location.
  2. Click Yes to continue with the installation. The Welcome dialog box appears. Click Next.
  3. In the Serial Number and Control Codes dialog box, enter the serial number and control number for the OpenEdge ESB Adapter and click Accept. Select OE Adap Sonic ESB from the Product(s) to be installed section and click Next.
  4. In the Java Home Location dialog box, browse to the location on your system where JDK is installed to specify the Java Home Directory. If your system already has JAVA_HOME set as a system or user variable, then the Java Home Directory is auto-populated. Click Next.
Note: Ensure that you have the correct JDK version installed on your system. Otherwise, an error message is displayed, and you cannot proceed with the installation. For information about JDK requirements, see "Progress OpenEdge Adapters" in the OpenEdge 12 Platform Compatibility Guide.
  5. In the Choose Destination and Working Path Directories dialog box, specify the path to the OpenEdge installation working directory if required. Click Next. The Information popup window appears, displaying the message that the product is installed over an existing OpenEdge installation, and the current installation creates a backup of the existing OpenEdge properties and stores it at a specific location. Click OK.
  6. In the Sonic ESB properties dialog box, edit the default Sonic ESB properties if required and specify the directory in which the Sonic ESB configuration files are to be stored. If the Sonic ESB is installed on a remote machine, leave the field empty. Then, click Next. A popup window appears displaying the information that the Sonic Domain Manager Broker that you specified is running. Click OK.
  7. In the Typical Setup Done dialog box, click Finish.
The installation program adds the OpenEdge ESB adapter to your OpenEdge installation directory.
