You can add the OpenEdge Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) Adapter to an existing OpenEdge installation either interactively or silently.

To add an OpenEdge ESB Adapter to an existing OpenEdge installation on UNIX or Linux, perform the following steps:

  1. Download the OpenEdge ESB Adapter version from the Progress Download Center and launch its installation program.
  2. In the Product Configuration Data dialog box, enter the company name, serial number, and control number for the OpenEdge ESB adapter. Then, press CTRL + E.
  3. In the Done Configuration Data Confirmation dialog box, press Y to continue.
  4. In the Java Home Location dialog box, enter the path where the JDK version installed to specify the JavaHome and press ENTER to continue.
    Note: Ensure that you have the correct JDK version installed on your system. Otherwise, an error message is displayed, and you cannot proceed with the installation. For information about JDK requirements, see "Progress OpenEdge Adapters" in the OpenEdge 12 Platform Compatibility Guide.
  5. In the Install Type and Destination dialog box, choose Select the Destination Pathname, and specify the path of the initial installation. Press RETURN.
  6. In the Destination Pathname Exists dialog box, choose Install the OpenEdge products in the pre-existing destination path and press RETURN. The Release Compatibility Caution pop up window appears. Press Y.


  7. In the Select Server Engine, choose the Continue with Install option.
  8. In the Sonic ESB Properties dialog box, you can modify the pre-populated properties, if required and type the path to Sonic ESB installation directory on your system in the SonicESB Home Directory path. If the Sonic ESB is installed on a remote machine, then leave the field empty. Press ENTER.
  9. In the Complete Installation dialog box, review your installation choices and press Y.
  10. In the Copy Scripts dialog box, confirm whether you want to copy the OpenEdge ESB adapter product scripts and program modules to the default location /usr/bin. Press Y or N to continue.
  11. After the installation is complete, a dialog box appears displaying the information that the installation is complete. Select End the OpenEdge Installation, and press ENTER to close the dialog box.
