Use Prompt for Pin (
-Pin) to: - Open an encryption-enabled database that requires secondary authentication using HSM, when the database is configured for manual start, or
- Override the autostart PIN configuration.
Database utilities and
servers indicate that they require a second prompt for key store authentication by
adding Prompt for Pin (-Pin) to the command line
after Prompt for Passphrase (-Passphrase).
Prompt for Pin prompts for the PIN (personal identification number). If you cannot successfully authenticate the key store, you cannot open to the database.
For more information on the keystore PIN, see Configure keystore access.
