Using the Appropriate Credentials

MOVEit credentials. This refers to your MOVEit Transfer username and password. These were sent to you from your MOVEit Administrator or in a notification email when a folder, file, or package (email attachment) was shared with you.

Single Sign-on Credentials. (when configured). If your corporate or company environment uses trusted identity providers such as Microsoft 365 or similar, and these identity providers are configured for use by MOVEit, you can choose that identity provider and sign-on to MOVEit.

The following table provides guidelines for credential use.

Use the credentials for the Identity Provider (IdP) used by your site's environment (such as Microsoft 365, for example).

Getting to the Sign-on View

If you are not already on the sign-on UI view, you can:

  • Click the URL link in the shared file, package, or folder notification email.
  • Copy the URL link from your notification email and paste into your favorite supported web browser.

    The MOVEit Transfer Sign On page opens.

How to Use the Sign-on View Controls

The following table outlines how to use the sign-on screen.

Sign-On with Single Sign On (SSO) ( if configured)

Single Sign-On lets you sign on using an account with an Identity Provider that can authenticate your username and password and sign you on to multiple applications, including MOVEit.

  1. Click Sign On with SSO.
  2. If there are multiple Identity Providers for your organization, you are prompted to select a provider.
  3. Optionally, select Remember selection so that you can bypass the Select Identity Provider step the next time that you sign on.
  4. Click Continue. The Identify Provider sign-on screen opens.
  5. Enter your username and password and click OK.
    Note: If you click Cancel on the Identity Provider sign-on page, an error appears. To sign on, you must restart your MOVEit Transfer web interface session.

If you sign on successfully, then on subsequent sign-ons, when you open MOVEit Transfer, you go directly to your Home page.

Sign On with Username and Password (MOVEit credentials)

  1. Click the Sign On with Username and Password button and enter your username and password.

    (If you are a guest user, your username might already be filled in with your email address.)

  2. Click Sign On. (You might be prompted to change your password.)

Register and Send Files (when configured)

  1. At the bottom of the sign-on page, click Register and Send Files.

    The Register and Send Files page displays.

  2. Enter the email address of the recipient to whom you are sending the package and your email address.
    Note: Depending on a specific security policy set by your site's MOVEit Administrator, this page might contain a Captcha box that requires you to type the displayed text. Captcha boxes verify you are a person (not an automated process).
  3. Enter the requested information and click Register and Send Files.

    One of the following actions occurs:

    • You are signed on immediately. Or,
    • You receive a message that an email is being sent to you with information about completing the registration. Follow the instructions in the email.

Help

  • Contains a link to the online manual.
  • Provides a contact name and email (if available) for the licensed enterprise running MOVEit Transfer.
    Note: The email address might not be encrypted. If your inquiry is sensitive, use Ad Hoc transfer, a secure web form, or other secure channel.
  • The Current Environment section provides information that is useful to tech support when solving a problem.

Language Selector

This option appears if your organization has configured it.

The sign-on page changes to the language you select. (A cookie is put on your system so that the page appears in that language the next time you sign-on).
