When MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication) is enabled for your account, you must pair your MOVEit Transfer account with either your email address or your mobile device. After you pair, you can receive a one-time PIN each time you attempt a sign-on with MOVEit Transfer. The secret, one-time PIN is used as an additional factor of authentication (in addition to your username and password) to verify your sign-on is genuine.

Additional factors of authentication supported by MOVEit Transfer and covered in this topic include:
  • Mobile device (smart phone).

A one-time PIN generated by an authenticator app running on your smart phone or mobile device (after initial setup). (You must have a smart phone or mobile device running an authentication app like Google Authenticator, Authy, Microsoft Authentication, and so on.)

  • Email address.

A one-time PIN sent to your email address. (You must have an email address configured with MOVEit Transfer.)

Why am I Prompted for an Additional Factor of Authentication?

MOVEit Transfer prompts you to configure Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) when:

  • You elect to apply MFA to your MOVEit Transfer Account from the My Account page. (Initiated by you)
  • Access control policies for your site require it. (Initiated by your site administrator)

How Can I Set Up My Email Address or Mobile Device for MFA?

These instructions guide you through the multi-factor authentication setup process.
