This section walks through the steps needed to change your password.

Read this first! (change password notes)

The Change Your Password and Forgot Password capability might not be available to you or other users. MOVEit Transfer displays Change or Forgot Password controls on the WebUI only when the administrator delegates this capability to you (or other users) for the current organization.

If you are having problems changing your password or signing on, you can:
  • Check the topic titled Sign-on and Account Access Tips.
  • Email/contact the MOVEit Transfer user who first shared access with you.
  • Email/contact the MOVEit Transfer Administrator.

To change your password from account settings (My Account)

Regular users must be signed on to the WebUI to view or edit the settings on the My Account page.
Important: The Change Your Password view will be available in your account settings (My Account page) if your MOVEit Transfer administrator allows users to change passwords after signing on. If you do not see it, you must request a password change from the administrator.

  1. In the top banner, click MY ACCOUNT. Locate the Change Your Password... section.
  2. Enter your old (current) password.
  3. Select one of the following options:
    • Use Suggested Password.
    • Type Custom Password. Following the listed rules, type a new password and repeat to help verify it.
    Tip: Use a password of 12 or more characters and a blend of letters and numbers.
  4. Click Change Password.

To reset your password (using security questions or email)

Password reset is available at sign-on if your MOVEit Transfer Administrator enabled it. You can verify it is configured by checking the sign-on page. When configured, the Forgot Password hyperlink displays.

Note: If your account is configured for this option, and if you have already provided answers to the security challenge questions, the next time you forget your password MOVEit Transfer challenges you with these questions to verify your identity.

To reset your password (if no Forgot Password link visible)

For these cases of site policy, you will need to request a reset password action from your site administrator:
  • Site policy does not allow users to reset password, or
  • You did not pre-fill your security challenge questions with answers that identify you

You can find your administrator's contact information from the Help (Contact) section. You can navigate there by one of two methods.

  • The Help selection on the top menu in the WebUI, or
  • Click the Help hyperlink on the sign-on page.
