The Corticon AI Assistant makes it easy to create business rules by describing them in plain text—no specialized syntax required. You simply express your requirements or policies in everyday language, and the Assistant translates those instructions into rules within your open rulesheet.

How it works:

  • The Assistant interprets your plain text prompt, matches it to the vocabulary and entities defined in your current rulesheet, and generates one or more rules based on your description.

  • For best results, your instructions should use terms and concepts already present in the rulesheet’s vocabulary.

The Assistant will only add new rules to the current rulesheet. Existing rules are not modified or deleted.

Steps to write rules with plain text:

  1. Open the rulesheet where you want to add new rules.
  2. Enter your plain text instruction or copy it from another document.
  3. Click Send. The Assistant will generate rules in line with your description and display them for review.
  4. Review and test the generated rules to ensure that they match your business intent and function as expected. AI-generated content may not always perfectly match your intent, and validation ensures rules are correct, complete, and work as expected in your project.

Here are a few example prompts you might use:

  • “Applicants over 18 with a valid driver’s license are eligible.”

  • “If the order amount is over $1,000, apply a 5% discount.”

  • “Reject claims where the date of service is before the policy effective date.”

  • “Set the customer status to ‘Premium’ if they have made more than five purchases this year.”

  • “Late fees are waived for gold tier members.”

Complex Example:

The AI Assistant can also handle more complex, multi-condition business rules. For example, you might enter the following prompt to add a group of related rules for insurance cost calculations:

After you click Send, the Assistant will generate a set of corresponding rules and display them in the panel for your review.

Reviewing the AI’s Reasoning

After generating rules from a complex prompt, the AI Assistant also displays a detailed explanation of how your original instruction was interpreted. This “reasoning” section helps you understand how each rule was constructed and ensures that the logic matches your intent.

Below is an example of the type of reasoning you might see in the response window:

Tips for the best results:

  • Review your rulesheet vocabulary (entities, attributes, values) before writing instructions.

  • Be specific and use terms that match your model.

  • If the Assistant cannot find a match for your prompt in the vocabulary, it will either use the closest option or let you know it cannot proceed.

  • You can copy and paste requirements or policy statements directly from business documents, emails, or specifications into the AI Assistant prompt.
