Explanation

This article explains how to create concepts schemes.

A concept scheme is a top-level grouping or organizational node in a model. In SKOS, a concept scheme represents a set of concepts that have been organized by a common set of modeling principles. At least one concept scheme is required for any model in Semaphore.

Assumptions

  • You have an existing model.
  • You have the MANAGER, EDITOR, or CONTRIBUTOR role for the model.

Method

  1. Open a model (in this example, an empty model call Test Model), and click Open Master or open a task.
  2. On the left-hand navigation area, click the plus sign in the top right. (If there are no existing concept schemes, you can also click Create a concept scheme.)
  3. In the Create a new concept scheme dialogue: - Enter a label and language for the concept scheme (in this example, “People” in English (en). (1) - (Optional) Edit the URI. (2) - Click Save. (3)

Once the concept scheme is created, there are several options you choose to do in the Details pane:

  • Change the preferred label or add a label in a new language. (1)
  • Add top concepts from any existing concepts. (2)

Outcome

You will see the new concept scheme in the left navigation area, as well as details on the right.
