How to add an alternative label or metadata to a concept

Explanation
This topic explains how to add alternative labels or metadata properties to existing concepts in a model.
- Alternative labels are typically things like synonyms, alternate spellings, abbreviations, acronyms, and evidence terms (in other words, different labels for the same concept).
- Metadata properties help enrich the meaning of the concept with information such as dates or descriptions.

Assumptions
Before you start, you need:
- A model that contains at least one concept.
- MANAGER, EDITOR, or CONTRIBUTOR permissions for the model.
Create an alternative label

Open a model (in this example, Test Model), and click Open Master or open a task.

From the concept list on the left, select a concept to open its details (in this example, Father).

In the Details view, click + next to Alternative Labels or click Create an alternative label.

Provide the values for the following options; then, click
to submit:-
Select the relationship (alternative label is the default).

Specify a label. For example,
daddy. -
Select a language or Language neutral. For example, English (en).

Click
to submit.

Optionally, add metadata to your alternate label:
- Click
to add metadata to the corresponding alternative label; then: - Choose metadata field: Select the field for your metadata.
- Click + Add. A field that corresponds to your selected metadata field opens.
- In the field, specify the value of your metadata field.
- Repeat the preceding steps to add additional metadata for your alternative label.

Add a metadata property

Open a model (in this example, Test Model), and click Edit Master or open a task.

From the list of concepts on the left, select a concept to open its details (in this example, Father).

In the Details view, click the drop-down icon next to Metadata, or click Add metadata field.

In the Choose metadata pop-up, select all metadata properties that you want to add (for example, birth date), and then click + Add selected fields.

To configure your metadata:
- Click the field you want to edit.
- Enter the information according to the metadata type (in this example, pick a date from the calendar).
- If the metadata type is a string, choose a language.
- Click
.

Outcome
In the Details view of the concept, you can see the new alternative label and metadata you created in the corresponding sections.
