Note:

To obtain a different MarkLogic Server license, contact your MarkLogic sales representative.

You can always change the license key for a host from the Host Status page.

These are some reasons that you would need to change your license key:

  • Your license key has expired.

  • You need to use some features that are not covered by your existing license key.

  • You upgraded your hardware with more CPUs and/or more cores.

  • You need a license that covers a larger database.

  • You require different languages.

Changing the license key sometimes results in an automatic restart of MarkLogic Server (for example, if your new license enables a new language).

To change the license key for a host, follow these steps using the Admin Interface:

  1. Click Hosts on the left menu tree.

  2. Click the name of the host whose license key you want to change, either on the menu tree or the summary page. The Host Configuration page appears.

  3. Click the Status tab. The Host Status page appears.

  4. Click license key. The License Key Entry page appears.

  5. Enter valid information into the Licensee and License Key fields, and click ok. If your license key requires a restart to take effect, then MarkLogic Server automatically restarts. The license key is now in effect.

Once the license key takes effect, you can access it and its related information in one of these ways:

  • Through the Admin Interface by viewing the relevant fields on the Host Status page (accessed by following steps 1 - 3 in the previous procedure). The license options are in the Options field.

  • Through xdmp.hostStatus() or xdmp:host-status().

  • Through the REST API: GET /manage/v2/hosts.
