You can add the OpenEdge Java Message Service (JMS) Adapter to an existing OpenEdge installation either interactively or silently.

To add an OpenEdge JMS Adapter to an existing OpenEdge installation on UNIX or Linux, perform the following steps:

  1. Download the required OpenEdge JMS Adapter version from the Progress Download Center and launch its installation program.
  2. In the Product Configuration Data dialog box, enter the company name, serial number, and control number for the OpenEdge JMS Adapter. Then, press CTRL + E.
  3. In the Done Configuration Data Confirmation dialog box, press Y to continue.
  4. In the Java Home Location dialog box, enter the path where the JDK is installed to specify the JavaHome and press ENTER to continue.
    Note: Ensure that you have the correct JDK version installed on your system. Otherwise, an error message is displayed, and you cannot proceed with the installation. For information about JDK requirements, see "Progress OpenEdge Adapters" in the OpenEdge 12 Platform Compatibility Guide.
  5. In the Install Type and Destination dialog box, choose Select the Destination Pathname, and specify the path to the initial installation. Press RETURN.
  6. In the Destination Pathname Exists dialog box, choose Install the OpenEdge products in the pre-existing destination path and press RETURN. The Release Compatibility Caution pop up window appears. Press Y.


  7. In the Select Service Engine, choose Continue with Install.
  8. In the Attention dialog box, press ENTER.
  9. In the Language Selection dialog box, select English - American as the language to be used for the OpenEdge JMS Adapter error and information messages. Press the TAB key to highlight the Make Default option, and then press ENTER. Now, press the TAB key again to highlight Continue with Installation option, and then press ENTER.


    Note: You can select only English-American as a default language during the installation.
  10. In the International Settings dialog box, choose the settings for your character set, date, and number format in the OpenEdge JMS Adapter. Details about the information required for this dialog box are available from online help. Press the TAB key to highlight Continue with Installation, and then press ENTER.


  11. In the Complete Installation dialog box, review the installation options that you chose. If you are satisfied with your choices, then press Y.
  12. In the Copy Scripts dialog box, confirm whether you want to copy the OpenEdge JMS Adapter product scripts and program modules to the default location /usr/bin. Press Y or N to continue.
  13. When the installation is complete, a message is displayed. Press the TAB key to highlight the End the OpenEdge Installation and press ENTER to exit the installation process.
    The installation program adds your OpenEdge JMS Adapter to your OpenEdge installation directory.
