Overview

Use Gigamon Visibility Platform and Flowmon together to monitor your network traffic. This solution combines:

  • Gigamon for traffic collection
  • Flowmon modules for advanced analysis:
    • Network Performance Monitoring and Diagnostics (NPMD)
    • Network behavior analysis
    • Performance monitoring
    • Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) detection
    • On-demand packet capture

Install Gigamon Virtual Traffic Acquisition Points (vTAP) agents on your virtual instances to route traffic copies to Flowmon's monitoring interfaces.

Prerequisites

You must have:

  • A running instance of Flowmon (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud).
  • A number of running client instances where Gigamon vTAP agents can be installed.

Deployment

Several components are needed to use Gigamon. They can be either virtual or physical appliances. For a fully virtualized installation, you must have instances of:

  • Gigamon Fabric Manager,
  • V Series Node,
  • V Series Controller,
  • vTap Controller.

To send packets to the Gigamon Visibility Fabric, you must install Gigamon vTAP on every host you want to monitor.

For more information about the Gigamon Solution and up-to-date installation guides, refer to the following guides:

There is no need to install anything on your Flowmon.
