Introduction
This document describes the steps necessary for the installation and configuration of a typical Semaphore for OpenText solution. This document assumes that both a working base Semaphore installation is already in place and that OpenText is already installed and configured.
The Semaphore for OpenText solution uses the Semaphore Classification Server product to automatically classify content as it is added or updated in a OpenText environment.
The following are the core features:
- Easy to use web-based configuration interface
- Automatic classification of content as it is updated/added to OpenText
- Storage of classification information in OpenText document properties
- Ability to use the contextualized classification information returned from Classification Server to drive the search experience
The core components are:
- Semaphore for OpenText - This is the main integration into OpenText adding configuration screens and functionality to classify content as it is added to OpenText
- The OpenText Publisher (Optional) - This synchronizes a Semaphore model (stored in a Semaphore Semantic Enhancement Server index) into OpenText and used as a controlled vocabulary.
Audience
This document is intended for individuals responsible for the configuration of the Semaphore software suite within a OpenText environment (typically OpenText system integrators or software installation engineers). It is assumed that readers of this document have a good understanding of the following:
- Semaphore concepts
- OpenText configuration
A note about Semaphore versions
The Semaphore software is generally released as a suite of its various components. This entire suite is assigned a version number but within the suite the components also have their own specific revision numbers. Please see Semaphore Release Notes for details of the various versions of Semaphore.
Note that unless otherwise advised by Smartlogic, components from different suite versions should not be used as they may be incompatible with one another. For example, Ontology Server from Semaphore 3.2.1 and Publisher from Semaphore 3.3 cannot function together.
Important: Whenever issues are reported to Smartlogic always indicate the specific version of the software being used as this is required by the support team when investigating the issue.
