Pre-requisites

There are a number of pre-requisites to installation of Semaphore for OpenText:

• A full Semaphore software installation - See Semaphore Installation Guide for Linux or Semaphore Installation Guide on Windows for details. The Semaphore software should be installed, configured and operational including a model that can be used for, at least, this initial installation of Semaphore for OpenText.
• OpenText Content Server 10.5 through 16.0.0 - Must be installed and appropriately configured. Confirmed to work with the Windows version of OpenText Content Server as well as Oracle 11 G and Microsoft SQL Server 2012 databases.

For the “OpenText Publisher” component, the following is required:

• Java JRE 1.7 (or greater) installed on target server - %JAVA_HOME% must be set and %JAVA_HOME%\bin must be in the path
• OpenText Publisher distribution copied to target server - ZIP file containing the distribution.
• (Linux) The “sem_pub” user on target server must have read/write access to the install directory
• JDBC-accessible database - Currently only MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server are supported. With connectivity from the OpenText.Publisher system, with full privileges for the configured user to create, insert and drop the configured table. By default:
  • Database: semaphoreTaxonomy
  • Table: semaphoreTaxonomy
  • Username/Password: sem_pub/pass@word1
• SMTP Server (Optional) - Required for email functionality. The email sender should be the same user that authenticates with the SMTP server. If you have access, listed below are a few public smtp servers that may fill your needs (refer to the help pages of each server for more configuration information):
  • smtp.gmail.com, ssl
  • smtp.live.com, open, port: 587
  • smtp.mail.yahoo.com, open

For the “Semaphore for OpenText” component the following is required:

• Semaphore for OpenText distribution - ZIP file containing the distribution.
