Install Semaphore

Before you get started: Complete the following before you start installing:

• Verify that your server has met the minimum specifications. See Technical Specifications for details.

• Obtain all the installers for the Semaphore components and language packs you want to install. See Semaphore component installation files for details.

• Obtain required third-party software. See Third-party requirements for details.

• Optionally, obtain optional software for your environment. See Optional Software for details.

• Prepare your Installation Worksheet to record your notes on where your software is installed and how it has been configured. We strongly recommend recording installation details so that that can be used to pass onto any system administrators (this information is also useful for Progress Semaphore technical support). See Installation Details for a copy of the installation worksheet.

The following steps guide an administrator through deployment and configuration of a default Semaphore installation in 45 minutes to an hour. Details for each of these steps are provided in the following sections. Administrators can also use the Installation summary and worksheets to guide them through the installation process.

To install Semaphore:

1. Logon to the target server(s) as an administrator with full installation privileges. See Prepare to install for details.

2. Copy all relevant software onto the target server, including Semaphore component installers, required third-party software installers, and optional software installers. See Prepare to install for details.

3. Install third-party software. See Install third-party software for details.

4. Optionally, install optional software, such a MarkLogic. See Install optional software for details.

5. Install language packs. See Install the classification and language services for details.

6. If required, install the classification server. See Install the classification and language services for details.

7. If required, install the Semantic Enhancement Server. See Install the Semantic Enhancement Server for details.

8. Install Semaphore Studio. See Install Semaphore Studio details.

9. If required, install the Fact Framework plugins in Knowledge Model Management. See Install the Facts Framework for details.

10. If required, install the Reconciliation Server. See Install the Reconciliation Server for details.

11. If required, install the Precision and Recall Server. See [Install the Classification Precision and Recall Server (install_the_classification_precision_and_recall_server)
    for details.

12. Install the licence key. On any installation server that has Classification Server or SES installed, install the licence key. See Install the license key for details.

These steps should be followed in the order given.

It is strongly recommended that as the software is installed, notes are taken of where the software is installed and how it has been configured. A sample Installation Worksheet is provided (see Installation Details that can be used to keep track of these details that can be used to pass onto any system administrators (this information is also useful to Progress Semaphore Technical Support when required).
