Flowmon ADS is a module that can be run on the Flowmon appliance. Installation on the Flowmon appliance is carried out through the Install (Update) function found under the Version tab in the Flowmon Configuration Center. You can find more information about the installation of modules in the documentation of the Flowmon appliance.

The installation process automatically applies the Typical company configuration template to the application. Commonly used detection methods and parameters are activated by this process. There is also one flow data source prepared for the first monitoring port of the probe. This data feed must be activated manually. Information about data feed configuration is described in the chapter Configuration of flow data sources.

You can only install the Flowmon ADS application on a Flowmon appliance (check the respective release notes for the compatible versions). The license is part of the general Flowmon license. The license has to be loaded in the Flowmon Configuration Center.

Quotas settings

After the installation, it is recommended to adjust quotas (the amount of disc space that the application can use) for the ADS module in the section Flowmon Configuration Center Resource Manager. Note that if the application processes more than 10,000 flows per second, it is recommended to set quotas for the ADS module to at least 50 GB of space. The major part of this quota (about 80%) is used for storage of the generated events and the rest of the quota is used for the flow data processing. The maximum size of the mentioned processing part is 10 GB and this size can never be exceeded. This means that even though the quota for the ADS module is set to a higher value than 50 GB, the size of the processing part still remains at 10 GB.
