If your ABL application requires datetime accuracy more exact than millisecond precision and the Oracle data source provides it, you may need to retain CHARACTER data type mapping with the data parsing necessary to extract that precision from you application. For data sources that can handle OpenEdge datetimeattributes, conversion storage and retrieval is handled internally by the ABL.
