Note: Microsoft Azure offers a managed cloud database service known as Azure SQL Database. Starting with OpenEdge Release 12.2, Progress OpenEdge DataServer for Microsoft SQL Server has been certified for use with the Microsoft Azure SQL database. Because the Microsoft Azure SQL database is a cloud-based database service, DataServer applications hosted in a non-Azure environment that connect to the Microsoft Azure SQL database may experience performance issues due to network latency. To improve performance degradation due to network latency, Progress recommends hosting DataServer applications in the Microsoft Azure environment.
