The Unified Broker framework is a system administration framework that provides a consistent interface in which specific OpenEdge products, such as the MSS DataServer, can be managed. It supports elements that allow you to perform such common administrative tasks as
  • Starting and stopping processes
  • Managing, configuring and validating property files
These elements include the OpenEdge Management/OpenEdge Explorer configuration tool, mergeprop utility, and command-line utilities.

The framework also facilities activities that are fundamental to the MS SQL DataServer's broker-based technology. For example, the AdminService, the framework's central element, enables supported products like the MS SQL DataServer in managing an application's resources.
