After the installation program is finished, complete the following tasks to begin using OpenEdge:

  1. Create a database.

    See Creating and Deleting Databases.

  2. Start the database.

    See Starting Up and Shutting Down

  3. Create a Progress Application Server (PAS) for OpenEdge instance.
    • If you installed Progress Development Application Server for OpenEdge, a PAS for OpenEdge instance is already created.
    • If you installed Progress Production Application Server for OpenEdge, you must create a PAS for OpenEdge instance.

  4. Start PAS for OpenEdge.
