If you purchase additional licenses for products for an existing installation, you can re-run the installation program to install those additional products. When you re-run the installation program, you do the following:

  1. In the Serial Number and Control Codes dialog box, enter the License Addendum file for the additional licenses you purchased.
  2. Select the products corresponding to the additional licenses you purchased, and proceed with the installation.

Note the following:

  • When you download the installation media for the additional products you have purchased, make sure you download and extract the contents of the installation media to a temporary directory that is outside of your existing OpenEdge installation directory, OpenEdge-install-dir.
  • Prior to running the installation program:
    1. Stop any running OpenEdge processes, and close all other applications.
    2. As a precaution, make a backup copy of your existing OpenEdge-install-dir/properties directory.
  • Run the installation program (setup.exe for Windows, and proinst for UNIX and Linux) from the temporary directory in which you downloaded the installation media. Never run the installation program from the OpenEdge installation directory.

Add OpenEdge products to a Windows installation

To add OpenEdge products to an existing OpenEdge installation on Windows machines, complete the following steps:

  1. Download the License Addendum file for the additional products you have purchased, as described in Obtain a License Addendum file.
  2. Launch the installation program as described in Launch the Windows interactive installer.
    If there is an existing installation of the same OpenEdge version, the installer automatically detects the installation and displays a warning dialog box with the following message:
    The installation has detected that there exists a previous installation of
OpenEdge
in the following directory:

C:\Program Files\installation-path

The installation can only install additional products(s) to the above
directory.

Would you like to continue?
  3. Choose Yes to continue with the installation. The Welcome dialog box appears.
  4. Choose Next to continue. The Serial and Control Codes dialog box is displayed.
  5. Load the License Addendum file for the additional licenses you have purchased and choose Accept for each product that you want to add.

The installation program adds the new product licenses to the OpenEdge installation directories automatically. After the installation completes, the progress.cfg configuration file is updated with the new licenses.

Add OpenEdge products to a UNIX or Linux installation

To add OpenEdge products to an existing OpenEdge installation on a UNIX or Linux machine, complete the following steps:

  1. Download the License Addendum file for the additional products you have purchased, as described in Obtain a License Addendum file.
  2. Launch the installation program as described in Launch the UNIX interactive installer.
  3. When the Product Configuration Data dialog box is displayed, enter the License Addendum file, then enter Done. The Install Type and Destination dialog box is displayed.
  4. Choose Select Destination Pathname and enter the full path of the existing OpenEdge installation directory. The Destination Pathname Exists dialog box is displayed.
  5. Choose Install the Progress products in the pre-existing destination path, press ENTER, and continue with the installation.

The installation program adds the new OpenEdge product licenses to the installation directories automatically. After the installation completes, the progress.cfg configuration file is automatically updated with the new products.
