This topic describes the common installation settings for the OpenEdge Authentication Gateway server.

When installing the OpenEdge Authentication Gateway, which is configured as an individual component within the larger OpenEdge installation, take note of the instance name, port number, username, password, and location, since these will be used in the later topics in this tutorial.

To install the OpenEdge Authentication Gateway:
  1. Ensure you have the proper licensing in Install OpenEdge to access the OpenEdge Authentication Gateway as part of an OpenEdge installation. The Gateway component is known as OE Auth Gateway in the product licensing.
  2. Install the OpenEdge product on the machine you want to use as the Authentication Gateway server. During the installation process, you are prompted to supply the following information on the OpenEdge Authentication Gateway Details page:

Take note of the server defaults, or any changes you make to the defaults, as this information, specifically the Port Number and Instance Location, will be used throughout this tutorial.

Because the Authenticate Gateway server is a type of PAS for OpenEdge instance, it is common to keep the oeauthserver instance in the WRK directory among other PAS for OpenEdge instances, such as the default PAS for OpenEdge instance, oepas1. For the purposes of this tutorial, we will keep the location in the WRK, which can be accessed using Proenv with the %WRKDIR% system variable on Windows, and $WRKDIR on Linux.
Note: Port 8443 may already be in use on your system. If so, select an alternate port and copy that port number for use in the subsequent steps.
  3. Continue with the OpenEdge installation as per your organization's requirements.
