With the current release, MOVEit Transfer adds the following features and improvements.

Streamline browsing for audit users

Based on feedback, we streamlined audit user access to UI views and API result sets. This equips audit users with appropriate limited access paired with a better browsing experience, including:

  • Read-only Audit User access for Address Book, User Profiles, Group, User Auth, and User Settings.
  • Limited Audit User Access for Users View.

Clicking on a username displays a read-only view of the user's profile.

  • Limited Audit User Access for Logs View.
    • Clicking on a username in Log Entries table displays a read-only view of the user's profile.
    • Clicking on a timestamp provides client agent and user connection attributes.
    • Folder path links are scrubbed from Audit User view (text representations of folder paths remain).

OpenID Connect (OIDC) Identity Provider support for Single-Sign-On (SSO)

Org Admins can configure MOVEit Transfer as an external application (SETTINGS - Security Policies - Single Sign-On - Federated Identity Providers) supported by OAuth2/OIDC for user authentication and user authorization (access).

Figure 1. New Mode for Adding OIDC Identity Provider (IdP) shown
Figure 2. New Sign-on Screen for SSO Users
With OIDC support for Single Sign-On (SSO):
  • Users can log into the WebUI with SSO through OIDC Identity Provider (IdP) (such as the Microsoft identity platform, Entra)
  • Users can log into the REST API using SSO through the OIDC IdP
  • User access control to the WebUI and REST API can be managed by the institution or enterprise IdP (for example, from Microsoft 365 Entra, formerly Azure Active Directory)

Microsoft 365 OAuth for email-SMTP notifications

You can now configure your system-wide email notification service to use OAuth for authentication needed for SMTP-relay services. The OAuth (for Microsoft 365) feature set (Windows Start MOVEit Transfer > MOVEit Transfer Config > Email tab) is compatible with Microsoft 365, and you will need to generate an AD-registered application access key for MOVEit Transfer. Using the MOVEit Transfer Configuration Utility, you can apply these system-wide settings on an already installed system.

Note: You can use the MOVEit Transfer Config utility to applying OAuth configuration attributes as a post-installation step. (OAuth Email configuation is not exposed through the MOVEit Transfer Installation utility.)
Figure 3. Email Configuration OAuth for Microsoft 365
Important: Microsoft 365 announced plans to disable legacy SMTP authentication methods starting March 1, 2026. Customers sending mail through Microsoft 365 must configure OAuth authentication on the Entra Management Portal before this date. (This timeline is subject to change by Microsoft: we recommend upgrading MOVEit Transfer and re-configuring your SMTP authentication mode.)

Standard Arabic language support for UI

We extended the language support capabilities of the MOVEit Transfer user interface (UI). The UI now supports Modern Standard Arabic. In general, the UI was extended to work with right-to-left (RTL) written languages for ease of future RTL language support.

Alert notifications for file aging

To help you align with policy and storage limits, MOVEit Transfer can notify org admins by in-app notifications (default) or both in-app and email notifications when stored files exceed the maximum file age. If you sign in as org admin, you can apply these new settings from the WebUI using SETTINGS > Miscellaneous - Aging - File Age Alerts and Notifications.

Running services as non-admin user

For fresh installations, MOVEit Transfer will now run the following auxiliary services with less-privileged, non-administrator privileges:

  • MOVEit Transfer Gateway Tunnel Service
  • MOVEit Transfer Helper
  • MOVEit Transfer Key Management Service
  • MOVEit Transfer Status Server

COM-Based Outlook Plugin retired

The legacy Windows COM-based Ad Hoc Client (and the Sync client bundled with it) are retired. The COM-based Ad Hoc Client is also known as the "Ad Hoc Outlook Plugin." You can continue to use the Ad Hoc Add-in to Microsoft Outlook, which can be centrally configured for your users and replaces the COM-based plugin.

Note: For Ad Hoc Add in integration instructions, you can see the section titled Service Integration - Ad Hoc Add-in in the Administrator Guide.

SFTP library update reminder

As of version 2025.0 (17.0), MOVEit Transfer uses the default SFTP (SSH) service. The legacy SSH server is retired.
