Upgrading to the latest version of MOVEit Automation ensures that you have access to the latest features, fixes, security updates, and usability improvements.

Note: If you have a support subscription, upgrades are free. For licensing information, read this MOVEit License FAQ article.
Note: Windows COM and Java API users must update their APIs to the latest version, included in the MOVEit Automation upgrade, to ensure continuous API functionality. It is not possible to use older API versions with MOVEit Automation 2023 or later. The MICentralClt.exe command line client found in the COM API must also be upgraded. Get the Installer and Activation Code

To get a MOVEit installer package:

  1. Log in to the Progress Customer and Community portal and select Product Downloads.
  2. Download the product package.

    When you get your MOVEit product package from your Progress Community page, the activation code is embedded in the download file and is automatically applied during installation.

    The activation code is also stored in the Product Downloads section of the Progress Community for reference.

Upgrade Paths

MOVEit Automation 2023.1 supports "direct upgrade" (upgrade by way of running the MOVEit Automation installer) for existing MOVEit Automation 2021 (13.0) and newer.

Use the Upgrade Path table below to determine the most efficient upgrade path from your current version to MOVEit Automation 2023.1.

MOVEit Automation 2021 (13.0) or newer
  1. Download MOVEit Automation 2023.1 from the Progress Community.
  2. Your upgrade activation code is embedded in the installer file, and is automatically used during installation.

MOVEit Automation 2020.1 (12.1) or earlier
  1. Upgrade to a supported version, such as 2021 (13.0) using the 2021 installer in upgrade mode.
  2. Use the latest installer to upgrade to 2023.1.
Note: If your product version is close to or past its sunset or retirement milestones, upgrade to the latest version of MOVEit Automation. For more information, see the Product Lifecycle page.

Web Admin

When you upgrade to MOVEit Automation 2023.1, you must also update Web Admin.

  • Web Admin 2023.1 works only with MOVEit Automation 2023.1.

Tip: MOVEit Automation 2023.1 Web Admin verifies that the MOVEit Automation Server version is compatible during log on. Users cannot log on to the MOVEit Automation Server if the version is incompatible.

Admin Console

When you upgrade to MOVEit Automation 2023.1, you must also update Admin Console installations on all client machines where it is installed.

Windows and Java API

Windows and Java API versions must be updated with each release update to ensure that all API resources functions correctly. For more information on API updates, see Where are API updates associated with MIA updates?.
