Starting with LoadMaster Operating System (LMOS) 7.2.54.7, FIPS mode is updated to use the OpenSSL 3.0.8 FIPS Object Module (FOM). All future 7.2.54.x versions will also include the OpenSSL 3 FOM.

Note that the GA branch of releases (7.2.55.0 and above) has not yet been updated with the OpenSSL 3 FIPS module; it continues to run the earlier legacy version of the FOM (based on OpenSSL 1.0.2). An update of the FOM used in the GA branch to OpenSSL 3 is planned for later in 2025.

Updating Legacy FOM Systems

Generally, you can upgrade any system running the legacy 1.0.2 FOM to any LMOS version running the latest 3.0.8 FOM.

Note that if you are downgrading the system from 7.2.55.0 or a later release, for example, going from 7.2.58.0 to 7.2.54.12, some functionality introduced after 7.2.54.12 will no longer be available. Although we make every effort to move features from the GA branch to the LTSF branch as soon as they are stable, there is always a bit of a lag between feature introduction and back-porting to the 7.2.54.x branch.
