This update is required only for environments that use multiple Web Admin instances to access the same service.

Windows Server 2016 no longer a supported OS

To ensure customers have the best experience, MOVEit Automation 2024.1 and future versions will not support operation on Windows Server 2016. Microsoft ended mainstream support for Windows Server 2016.

Azure Blob update (2024.1.2 and newer)

The Azure Blob library has been updated to incorporate the latest security enhancements.

Admin Console retirement

MOVEit Automation Admin Console is retired. Admin Console has been superseded by Web Admin which provides additional functionality and security updates. Web Admin is the only way to administer MOVEit Automation features and functions for 2024.1 and future releases.

The option to install or upgrade Admin Console is not included in the MOVEit Automation 2024.1 installer.

Future SFTP library update

All SFTP hosts will use the latest MOVEit SFTP library in MOVEit Automation 2025.0.

In-app notifications

In-app notifications display within the Web Admin UI while it is in use to alert you to product releases, update availability, and inform you of new features. In-app notifications are enabled by default on new installations and upgrades. For more information about in-app notifications and the collection of necessary metadata, see In-App Notifications and Resource Center.

In-app access to MOVEit Resource Center

You can now access the MOVEit Resource Center directly from the Web Admin UI if in-app notifications are enabled. Click the Notifications icon in the menu bar for links and access to the MOVEit product community and ecosystem, including:
  • Product release information
  • Knowledge base (KB) information and how-to articles.
  • The MOVEit customer community site.
  • The MOVEit product ideas portal.

For more information about in-app access to the MOVEit Resource Center, see In-App Notifications and Resource Center.

Kill task function

The kill task function is available for tasks that hang, and do not respond to a Stop Running Task command. The kill task option stops the task in most cases. For more information, see Task List.

Updated SharePoint authentication

SharePoint authentication was updated to include Azure Active Directory (Entra) App-Only authentication through the Certificate Access option. This is the only recommended and supported method for server applications like MOVEit to access SharePoint files.

Note: Microsoft has deprecated the older methods of authentication. If you are using one of the older methods to authentication, it may continue to work but will be retired completely in 2026. This timeline is subject to change by Microsoft. We recommend that you research how this deprecation affects your SharePoint infrastructure and plan your migration to the new authentication method as soon as possible.

SharePoint encoded white space breaking change

As a result of updating to the latest SharePoint API, MOVEit Automation no longer processes files from SharePoint hosts with sub-site names containing space(s) configured using encoding (%20).

Previously, sub-site names that contained white space were encoded as %20 in the host setup. Sub-site names can now include spaces. Therefore, existing hosts with encoding must be modified to replace %20 with a space to ensure that work flows are successfully completed.

Improved Web Admin SSL/TLS Certificate update

Updating or installing a new SSL/TLS Certificate into Web Admin is now easier to accomplish. For more information, see Update the MOVEit Automation Web Admin SSL/TLS Certificate.

Updated TLS support

MOVEit Automation 2024.1 Web Admin introduces support for the TLS 1.3 protocol.

Updated Web Admin FIPS mode configuration

For Web Admin servers requiring FIPS support, updates to OpenSSL require a new configuration step during install or upgrade.

Note: This change applies to Web Admin only. The MOVEit Service FIPS configuration is not impacted.

After upgrading Web Admin in a FIPS configuration, the server will not start or you will get an error if you do not complete the new configuration procedure.

For more information, see Configure Web Admin FIPS mode.

Host page update

The HOSTS page was updated to provide a new sortable column for the host destination.

Active Directory log on

Starting with MOVEit Automation version 2024.0, when logging on using Active Directory, you must enter your credentials in the format mydomain\myusername
