The engine driving the Semantic Enhancement Server is SOLR. For most users this will be transparent and they will have no need to access the SOLR management interface directly, however, it may be necessary for them to do so.

To prevent unauthorized access to the SES indexes administrative and update functionality is locked down behind an authorization key (we call this process “adoption”). When run through the KMM interface, Publisher has access to this key. It is possible to “unadopt” a SES instance through the Studio interface. At this point access is unrestricted and you will be able to access the SOLR interface. However, this is a very bad idea as whilst the service is unadopted, anybody will have access to it.

To access the SES instance whilst keeping it secure you will need to obtain the key to access it. This can be obtained from the Studio management interface by clicking on the “Key” icon by the SES instance in question.

When you click on this button you will be asked for the lifetime of the key you wish in hours. Once you have done this, you will be presented with a key of that lifetime. You can copy this to clipboard and put it somewhere safe.

This token can be used in the stand-alone publisher to allow access to the SES instance, or if you add it as a header called “x-token” to your browser (using a header modification plug in) or to any cURL request then you will have access to the underlying SOLR administration page.
