Effective Rulebases require well-populated models with well-defined concepts. The concepts can have the attributes we’ve discussed applied if they are highly discriminating (in which case higher weightings are applied) or if they are ambiguous (lower weightings are applied).

To assist with this process, Progress can help procure and develop models in a variety of ways. Here are some things to keep in mind when looking at models:

  • Organizations that already have taxonomies or ontologies can import them into Semaphore easily.
  • There are many industry standard, public domain and proprietary taxonomies available in the market, and we can advise you the merits of each.
  • Progress consultants can help clients develop or enhance models rapidly.
  • Progress provides tools that identify relevant vocabulary from content.
  • Strategies for creating and enhancing models include using existing lists and databases, conducting interviews with subject matter experts and mining content.
  • The Semaphore Classification & Language Services Client application can mine content and search logs to help identify candidate alternative labels.
