You can install and manage ABL applications, web applications and web application services in PAS for OpenEdge using the ABL APPLICATIONS, WEB APPLICATIONS and WEB APP SERVICES tabs. All the related command and controls for ABL applications, web applications and web application services are internally performed using the tcman utility, because of which these operations are available only for the instances that are hosted locally and not for the remotely hosted ABL applications, web applications and web application services in which the tcman utility is inaccessible to OpenEdge Management.
Note: You must install only the ABL applications, web applications and web application services that you want to manage. The OpenEdge manager web application, oemanager, must be installed on a PAS for OpenEdge instance for you to manage OpenEdge ABL applications, web applications and web application services while the PAS for OpenEdge instance is running. The Tomcat manager Web application, manager, must be installed to deploy and undeploy these resources while the PAS for OpenEdge instance is running. You may choose not to install these web applications to improve security, but in such a scenario, OpenEdge Management cannot manage the resources.

Therefore, to manage remote resources, you must use the tcman utility in the remote location. For more information on managing ABL applications, web applications and web application services using the tcman utility, see the TCMAN Reference in PAS for OpenEdge Administration Tools Reference.

The following topics discuss the different commands and controls used to configure PAS for OpenEdge instances. These are all the different options under a PAS for OpenEdge instance page.

The Progress Application Server: <instance name> page displays five of the most recent alerts. You can clear an individual alert or click Clear all alerts to clear all the alerts from the page. When there are more than five alerts, the page displays a See complete list button to open the Alerts page, which displays all alerts. For more information about alert features, see OpenEdge Management: Alerts Guide and Reference in Use OpenEdge Management Alerts.

To view the graphs and charts pertaining to the CPU usage, physical, and virtual memory for PAS from Resources for a selected PAS for OpenEdge instance, navigate to Resources > Go to Resources > Progress Application Server > <PAS instance> and click Graphs/Charts. Using the options on the top-right corner of the graph, you can select a time period, ranging from 2 hours to 2 weeks, to display the data collected for that period of time, reload the graph, and select different forms of graphical interpretation.
