A signed archive file (.apl) is validated when first opened to verify the integrity of the file. If validation fails, then the archive cannot be opened. Before any r-code is executed, or an image file is accessed, the individual file is also validated. If validation fails, then the r-code will not execute, or you will not have access to the image file.
