MarkLogic Clusters need a load balancer to handle load balancing activity. The MarkLogic Helm Chart and Operator come with an internal load balancer based on HAProxy. HAProxy configuration differs depending on whether you are deploying a Helm Chart or Operator cluster.
Note:
For MarkLogic Helm Chart, HAProxy may only be configured at the cluster level where all nodes will be exposed.
With MarkLogic Operator, you may configure HAProxy at the cluster level where all nodes will be exposed, and at the group level where only the node of the configured group will be exposed.
