MarkLogic Converters

When installing MarkLogic Server, you can also install the optional MarkLogic Converters package to add converters and filters to MarkLogic Server. If you are using the Content Processing Framework, then you must install MarkLogic Converters.

Use these MarkLogic Converters functions to convert various file formats to XHTML:

• xdmp.wordConvert() or xdmp:word-convert()

• xdmp.excelConvert() or xdmp:excel-convert()

• xdmp.powerpointConvert() or xdmp:powerpoint-convert()

• xdmp.pdfConvert() or xdmp:pdf-convert()

Use one of these MarkLogic Converters functions to filter a variety of document formats, extract metadata and text from the documents, and return the documents in XHTML:

• xdmp.documentFilter()
• xdmp:document-filter()

If MarkLogic Converters are not installed, then these functions throw an XDMP-CVTNOTFOUND error.

Download MarkLogic Converters along with MarkLogic Server from the MarkLogic 11 download page. The version to download matches your MarkLogic Server version.

If you are upgrading from a previous version of MarkLogic Server with MarkLogic Converters installed, then remove MarkLogic Converters before removing MarkLogic Server.

Use one of these functions to check whether MarkLogic Converters is installed:

• xdmp.hostStatus()
• xdmp:host-status()

If converters-version is empty, then MarkLogic Converters is not installed.
