MOVEit Automation supports two approaches to disaster recovery. The first approach is to back up the critical files, folders, databases, certificates, registry information, and Windows user and group information required to recover a MOVEit Automation installation. The second approach is to use a downloadable task package, which automates the backup and restore of MOVEit Automation configuration and related system data.

The manual backup approach can be used with any supported MOVEit Automation installation. The downloadable task package is supported only with MOVEit Automation 2025 and later and requires an Advanced Tasks license.
