Note:

MarkLogic Server sends important log messages to the operating system logging facility. On Linux, these messages are sent through syslog. Most Linux distributions--including RHEL--ship with rsyslog as the system logging manager, but it may or may not be enabled by default. See the rsyslog documentation regarding installation and configuration of rsyslog if it is not available.
