You can use the PROADSV utility to query the AdminServer on both the Windows and Linux platforms, using a dedicated, minimally privileged service account.

proadsv -query -port <port number>
-query
Displays the AdminServer status.
-port
Specifies the listening port for the AdminServer, which is needed if you specified a port other than the default port when you started the AdminServer.
Note: If you specify values for -port or -adminport on the command line, these values override the values defined in the %DLC/properties/AdminServerPlugins.properties file.
