SQL Client Access lets you connect to OpenEdge databases using standard SQL tools and drivers. Before installation, very that all the perquisites are met. For details, see Before You Install.

To install SQL Client Access, download the software image from the Progress Software Download Center and launch the interactive installation program on either Windows or Linux platform as per your requirement. The installation procedure is identical to a standard OpenEdge installation. The only exception occurs when the installer prompts for Serial Numbers and Control Codes, you must enter the serial number and control number for the SQL Client Access. You can also add SQL Client Access during the OpenEdge installation or to the existing OpenEdge installation. For details on adding SQL Client Access to an existing OpenEdge installation, see Add products to an existing OpenEdge installation.
Note: When adding the downloadable package of SQL Client Access to an existing OpenEdge installation that already has an Incremental Update applied, you must reapply the same Incremental Update to the OpenEdge installation to ensure SQL Client Access is also updated to that version. For example, if you add SQL Client Access version 12.8.0 to an existing OpenEdge installation that already has Incremental Update 12.8.7 applied, you must reapply Incremental Update 12.8.7 to ensure SQL Client Access is also updated to version 12.8.7.
