OpenEdge Management provides visibility into a broad range of configuration, performance and status information on resources. It offers a variety of capabilities to the administrator or user to manage and monitor the performance of OpenEdge resources to:
- Proactively detect, prevent and troubleshoot failures to improve reliability
- Collect and store necessary data for reports and future reference
- Display resource information and data for the benefit of the system administrator
From the Management Console, you can perform the following tasks to achieve these benefits by:
- Creating and deleting new instances of licensed resources
- Setting or modifying properties for these instances
- Starting or stopping the instances (where applicable)
- Viewing status of the instances
- Configuring and viewing log files of the instances
- Defining and running Jobs
- Defining and running Reports
- Working with database administration console
When you access the Management Console, the OpenEdge Management view appears depending on the availability or non-availability of the OpenEdge Management license.
Access to OpenEdge Management
The OpenEdge Management is accessible only with a valid OpenEdge Management license. OpenEdge Management offers the following management and monitoring capabilities:

| Dashboard |
The Dashboard provides a single unified view of the configured priority OpenEdge resources, system and network information for viewing. The dashboard is a collection of various resources related metrics which may include statuses, performance graphs, jobs, alert details and so on. | Alerts |
Alerts aid in the management and monitoring of the resources. An alert notifies a user when a defined performance metric or event meets the configured threshold so that timely action can be taken. Alerts are associated with rules and configured to send e-mail notifications to IT personnel and execute scripts. See Working with Alerts in Use OpenEdge Management Alerts. |
| Library |
A pool of all actions, rule sets, email templates, search criteria, and schedules that you can create and associate with the various resources for monitoring. See Using the OpenEdge Management Library in Monitor OpenEdge Resources with OpenEdge Management. |
| Reports |
Reports help you to study and compare the performance of the resources for capacity planning and make other suitable business decisions. A user can create reports and report templates; define the report schedule for each type of report, view, print and save reports. | Jobs |
A job is a task or set of tasks that you can create and schedule for execution to aid in the management and monitoring of the OpenEdge resources. See Working with Jobs in Monitor OpenEdge Resources with OpenEdge Management. |
Quick access options
Toggle Menu: Located on the top-left of the Management Console, the toggle menu provides you quick access to view the details of resources such as all collections, name of the resource, type and status of the resource and the AdminServer details.
User Options: Located on the top-right of the Management Console, the User Options provides quick access to the configuration settings of the OpenEdge Management such as setting up a page as the default landing page, changing Web server configuration, adding and managing remote AdminServers.
