Certain MOVEit Services Do Not Start after Install (MySQL Database)

At installation time, if you use the MySQL database and if you use a local DNS configuration through Windows Server, some MOVEit services might fail to start (SysStat, MOVEit Transfer key management, MOVEit Transfer Status Server, and MOVEit Transfer Certificate).

Background/Cause

Windows Group Policy Objects (GPOs) can restrict MOVEit Transfer and prevent it from installing correctly while using local DNS. You can work around this limitation using a setting within Windows Server.

Workaround

From the Windows Server Host where you installed MOVEit Transfer, you can enable the setting to turn off automatic root certificates.

  1. Press Win+R keys --press and hold Windows key () and then press the "R" key-- to open the Windows Server Run dialog.
  2. Type gpedit.msc and press Enter.
  3. In the Local Group Policy Editor, click and expand Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Internet Communication Management, and then click Internet Communication Settings.
  4. In the details panel, double-click Turn off Automatic Root Certificates Update, click Enabled, then click OK. This change will be effective immediately without restart.
