Configure an ODBC data source to point to the OpenAccess SDK Service that you want to test. Refer to the OpenAccess SDK Client Reference for more information about using the ODBC Client.

  1. From the Start menu, select Progress DataDirect OpenAccess SDK 9.0 / Local Client for ODBC and IP SDK / ODBC Administrator.

  2. On the User DSN tab, click Add to create a new data source. A list of installed drivers appears. Select DataDirect OpenAccess SDK 9.0 - Local; then, click Finish.

  3. The DataDirect OpenAccess SDK Local ODBC Driver Setup window appears. Provide the following information:

Data Source Name: Type a name for the data source, for example, mydsn.

OpenAccess Service Name: Type the name of an OpenAccess SDK service:

    • OpenAccessSDK900_C

    • OpenAccessSDK900_C_SQL

    • OpenAccessSDK900_Java

    • OpenAccessSDK900_Java_SQL

    • OpenAccessSDK900_NET

OpenAccess Service Data Source: Type Default.

  4. Click Test Connect from the data source set up dialog box to establish a connection to the OpenAccess SDK service and data source. If successful, click OK. You have created an ODBC data source named mydsn.

  5. Continue at Querying the Sample Data Source to use your new ODBC data source to query the sample data source.
