The goal of this tutorial is to enable you to get the OpenEdge Authentication Gateway server running, and to set up an OpenEdge database to be secured by the Authentication Gateway server. The OpenEdge Authentication Gateway provides enhanced database, application, and server security, which gives system administrators greater control over client connections to their resources.

For the purposes of this tutorial, you should have a separate Authentication Gateway server and OpenEdge database machines. The OpenEdge database accesses the Authentication Gateway server to authenticate access to its resources. For the purposes of this tutorial, you must also have the administrator-level credentials to log into the Authentication Gateway machine.
