This guide describes the requirements for Flowmon appliance deployment:
-
Configuration of switches/routers (depending on the deployment of the Probe/Collector)
-
Depending on the planned deployment of the Flowmon solution you may need to configure the following:
-
SPAN/mirror port of switch/router to monitor traffic going through the device
-
NetFlow data export to the Collector
-
-
Notice: we strongly recommend ensuring the availability of the network administrator who is responsible for the configuration of switches/routers
-
-
Prepare the switch/router ports for management ports of Probes/Collectors connection to the LAN
-
Place in the rack
-
1U for each probe and collector models 1000 – 6000Pro
-
2U for each probe 40 000Pro
-
2U for each collector 12 000Pro
-
1U for up to 3 rack TAPs
-
-
Power (we recommend the backup power supply from the UPS)
-
1x 110/230V for each probe and non-Pro collector (1000 and 2000)
-
2x 110/230V for each probe 20 000Pro, 40 000 and 40 000Pro
-
2x 110/230V for each Pro collector (3000Pro and higher)
-
1x 110/230V for copper TAP (has its own power adapter including power cable)
-
-
Network cables (copper or optical as needed)
-
Probe
-
1x cable for management port (copper, RJ45)
-
1x cable for each monitoring port
-
-
(Note: 1 SPAN port needs 1 monitoring port of the Probe, TAP needs 2 monitoring ports of the Probe)
-
Collector
- 1x cable for management port (copper, RJ45)
-
TAP
- 1x short cable between TAP and switch/router
