The OpenEdge installation contains an ESAM-related artifact known as the
dlc.ver file. It is an immutable object that is installed with
OpenEdge and removed when OpenEdge is uninstalled. An OpenEdge installation relies on
this file to successfully register itself to ESAM because the setdlc
script cannot register or unregister an OpenEdge installation without this file being
available from the OpenEdge install. Therefore, after an OpenEdge installation is
complete, this protected file must not be deleted and must be backed up in a safe
location. Only a System Administrator has access to the dlc.ver file.
If the file is somehow deleted or corrupted, you can still register and unregister the
installation, provided the backup copy is reinstated at the proper location in the
OpenEdge installation. The relative path to the dlc.ver file is the
/install/verify subdirectory under the root install path.
