With the current release, MOVEit Transfer adds the following features and improvements.

Self-Publish TLS/SSL Server Certificate (Org-level management)

MOVEit Transfer system administrators ("sys admins") can enable organization administrators ("org admins") to upload or remove their own TLS/SSL server certificates using the MOVEit Transfer Web UI.

The following visual outlines the workflow from the MOVEit Transfer sys admin's point of view.
  • A MOVEit Transfer sys admin makes self-publish available for use by an organization "org" (1)
  • Org admins can now upload certificates for that organization's site. Those certificates remain in the pending state (2)
  • Sys admins receive a notification of a certificate in the pending state. A sys admin can apply the certificate to make it active and current for the site, or reject it --current shown (3).

Log Export

The MOVEit Transfer LOGS view provides administrators and users an easier way to customize (1), view (2), and export (3) log data as tables of Comma Separated Values (.csv files) directly from LOGS view. (This common data format can be opened directly from MS Excel).

MySQL Database Config and Performance Improvements

The MOVEit Transfer Installer applies new MySQL default settings (to my.ini) during an install and upgrade of the MySQL database. The updated settings improve performance and provide better settings for InnoDB.

SSH/SFTP Host/Client Keys

This improvement enables the SFTP server to have stronger host keys based on Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC). It also enables SSH/SFTP client-key authentication based on the same algorithms. ECC is a preferred alternative to RSA key schemes.

This improvement includes two parts:
  • SSH server default creation can use an Elliptic Curve cipher that is a FIPS-compliant variant such as ecdsa-sha2-nistp256.
  • MOVEit Transfer Server's SSH Host key can utilize Elliptic Curve algorithms such as 256, 384, and 521 bit ECC variants along with Ed25519

MS SQL Server Read-only DB Performance Feature Supported

When you use MS SQL Server as the database engine for MOVEit Transfer, you can use the MOVEit Transfer Config Utility to leverage the read-only database instance that SQL Server HA (High-Availability) for scaling the heaviest read and view operations. The MOVEit Transfer Config Utility provides a "Use read-only option for reporting" in the Database tab. When selected, the system uses the SQL Server HA read-only database for the following reporting functions:

  • Viewing audit logs through web interface (as separate from application calls to the audit lo)
  • Generating a report (both standard and custom reports)
  • Uploading data graphs and reports

Manual Option: Redirecting Report Generation to a Different Read-Only Instance:

If your MS SQL Server implementation does not use the built-in high availability feature, you can still run report generation and other I/O or compute-intensive queries in a way that does not add latency to the system.

Read-only Database Option

Option to Keep or Remove Home Folder When User Account Expires

This improvement in Expiration Settings enables you to create an expiration policy to automatically delete a user's Home folder. You can enable this new option by checking the Delete user home folders and all subfolders upon user deletion.

This feature extends the original behavior, which preserved the folder structure for expired accounts.

Extended Gateway Tunnel Configuration

The Gateway Listen on IP Address for Tunnel now handles a specific IP addresses for cases where your site requires this added flexibility. This is a feature extension made through the Gateway tab in the MOVEit Transfer Configuration utility.
