Ad Hoc Transfer Settings

How to get here

Use these settings to configure the server settings for the Ad Hoc Transfer Module. This includes the folder where packages (sent files) will be stored, expiration of files in this folder, access to the FTP file system, access to a mail server to send a package, and settings for delivery notification. These settings are applied to all hosts, and affect all users of the Ad Hoc Transfer web interface and the Ad Hoc Transfer plugin for Outlook.

  • Package storage folder. This folder will store all packages sent by your Ad Hoc Transfer users. This could be a large amount of data given that an individual package can include multiple files. The Cleaner settings determine how often the packages in this folder will be deleted.
  • Session timeout. The amount of time, in seconds, after which a user session will be ended.
  • Files link message. The text displayed here appears in the email that a recipient receives from an Ad Hoc Transfer sender. This text is followed by the link (HTTP/S URL) that the recipient clicks to access files for download.
  • Clean up expired packages every __ hours. This setting determines how often the Package storage folder is checked for expired packages. If a package has exceeded the Files expire in __ days/hours, or the Files also expire after __ downloads, set by the Sender, the package will be removed from this folder and will also be removed from the Active Packages list in the web interface or the Send Secure folder in the Outlook plugin. If the sender does not set these options, the package will expire based on the default settings specified by the administrator in the Ad Hoc Transfer Package Settings.

Impersonation Settings

The Ad Hoc Transfer Module runs as a web application under Internet Information Services (IIS). This web application needs access to the file system on your FTP host or hosts. Use these settings to specify a Windows user account that the Ad Hoc Transfer Module uses to access folders on the WS_FTP Server host. This includes local system folders and network folders specified with a UNC name.

Tip: When an Ad Hoc Transfer user adds files to the package they intend to send, this Windows account is used to access the FTP file system from the user's local machine.
  • Domain. Enter the name of the domain, or the machine name, on which the user exists.
  • User name. Enter the user name to use when requesting access to folders on the host. You can change the default name.
  • Password. Enter the password to use when requesting access to folders on the host.

Mail Settings

Use these settings to specify a mail server to use when the Ad Hoc Transfer user sends a package to a recipient, and when the Ad Hoc Transfer module sends a notification, for example a notification that files were downloaded.

  • Mail server. Enter the IP address or host name of the mail server (SMTP) through which you want to send packages and notifications.
  • Port. Enter the port number if you want to use a port other than default SMTP port 25.
  • User name. Enter the user name for authentication to your SMTP server.
  • Password. Enter the password for authentication to your SMTP server.

Delivery Notification

Use these settings to determine how the Ad Hoc Transfer user will receive download notifications. If the Ad Hoc Transfer user sets the option to Send email notification when files are downloaded, they will receive a notification each time the recipient downloads a file. The batch delivery feature can consolidate these download notifications so they are received (by the sender) in a single email message.

  • Collect notifications for each sender and send summary email messages when. Select this option to enable batch processing, then select how often you want to batch the notifications.

  • From address. Enter an email address that you want to use as the From address on notifications sent by the Ad Hoc Transfer module.
