In WhatsUp Gold, inventory data refers to detailed information about the devices in your network that is collected during the scan. This data helps keep track of the devices, their configurations, and key attributes to better manage and monitor the network infrastructure.
Inventory data includes:
- Basic Device Information:
- Device name
- IP address
- MAC address
- Primary role and sub-roles assigned to the device
- Hardware Details:
- Manufacturer and model
- Serial numbers
- CPU and memory specifications
- Storage capacity and usage
- Operating System and Software:
- Operating system and version
- Installed software or firmware versions
- Services running on the device
- Network Information:
- Network interfaces and bandwidth usage
- VLAN information
- Connected devices or neighbors (via Layer 2/3 topology mapping)
- SNMP, WMI, or SSH configuration details
- Attributes:
- For switches: port configurations and status
- For servers: uptime, CPU load, and memory usage
- For firewalls: security policies or traffic stats
- Any additional metadata or tags that administrators add for classification or tracking.
