Many databases allow applications to store client information associated with a connection. This information can be useful for database administration and monitoring purposes. For DB2 V9.5 for Linux/UNIX/Windows and DB2 for z/OS, this information can feed directly into the Workload Manager (WLM) for workload management and monitoring purposes. See Workload Manager (WLM) for more information about using the WLM.

The DataDirect Connect for ADO.NET data providers allow your application to store and return the following types of client information:

  • Name of the application
  • User ID
  • Host name of the client
  • Additional accounting information, such as an accounting ID
  • Product name and version of the data provider

Refer to the DataDirect Connect Series for ADO.NET Installation Guide for more information on working with client information.
